WOOP

Getting healthier usually doesn’t fail because we don’t know what we want. It fails because real life gets in the way.

Try WOOP:

Wish: What do you want?
Outcome: What would success look or feel like?
Obstacle: What will realistically get in the way?
Plan: “If that happens, then I will ___.”

Exercise
Wish: Exercise 3x/week.
Outcome: Feel stronger and have more energy.
Obstacle: I’m exhausted after work.
Plan: If I’m too tired for a full workout, then I’ll do 10 minutes.

Food
Wish: Eat better during the week.
Outcome: Feel better and have steadier energy.
Obstacle: I get rushed and grab whatever is easiest.
Plan: If I’m short on time, then I’ll choose the easiest healthy option available.

Stress
Wish: Handle stressful moments better.
Outcome: Feel calmer and react less impulsively.
Obstacle: I get overwhelmed before I realize it.
Plan: If I notice stress building, then I’ll step outside and walk for 5 minutes.

Instead of just setting a goal, plan for the moment the goal gets difficult.

That’s often where real behavior change happens.
