Stretching INTO the Pain

the only way out is through

We went camping this weekend.

It's always wonderful to get outside, but it was a little hot.

Plus, my two kids were excitedly running around free all day and came into the tent fatigued and irritable.

That coupled with sleeping on a 2 inch sleeping pad led to a bad night of sleep.

I woke up, packed up the campsite after a relaxing morning and we drove home.

About an hour later I noticed my Right Upper Trap was really sore.

I did a PT test and I couldn't bend my head towards that side.

So I used the MDT approach. I sidebend my head towards the painful side 10x. Then I rechecked. My motion improved...

And my upper trap felt better.

I did the repetitions thought the day and my pain was gone by the end of the day.

Sometimes you need to stretch into the stiffness, not away from it.
