Get Good By Doing Good

A new study followed a UK program where people walked, ran, or cycled to volunteer projects—helping isolated older adults, planting trees, working at food banks, community gardening, etc.

Among 2,856 participants, involvement was associated with less loneliness and mental distress and greater belonging, connectedness, and trust; some benefits persisted beyond six months.

It was also a dose-dependent response. The more you do it, the better it gets.
