Walk Your Way to a Longer Life

You don’t have to do crossfit or run a marathon to improve your health and life expectancy. In fact, all you need to do is be more physically active. Even walking is enough.

Studies support this:

“If all individuals were as active as the top 25% of the population, Americans over the age of 40 could live an extra 5.3 years on average.

The greatest gain in lifetime per hour of walking was seen for individuals in the lowest activity quartile where an additional hour’s walk could add 376.3 min (~6.3 hours) of life expectancy.”

What this means:

1) All you have to do is get more physically active. It can be riding a bike or just walking. If you’re up for it, it can be more intense exercises, but it doesn’t have to.

2) This also highlights the importance of staying injury free. Injuries will prevent you from being physically active, which will prevent you from using your body to improve your health and increase your lifespan.

This is why it’s important to make sure you have a good physical therapist that can guide you in good safe exercises and get you out of pain.
