This Saturday, Black Bear Physical Therapy is heading to downtown Waynesville for the Mountain Valley Mile, and we’re excited to be one of the sponsors of this new Western North Carolina running event.
Even better: we’ll have a table set up offering free physical therapy consultations and injury screens.
Come Ask a Physical Therapist
If you’re running the race, come see us before or after your mile.
Have a nagging knee problem? Achilles pain? Plantar fasciitis? Hip pain? Wondering whether you should keep running through something or back off?
Come talk to us.
We can help you think through:
Running-related pain and injuries
Strength or mobility limitations
Training questions
Returning to running after an injury
Recurring problems that just won’t go away
Whether something might benefit from a more complete physical therapy evaluation
There’s no charge and no obligation. We simply want to be a resource for the Asheville and Western North Carolina running community.
Why We’re Sponsoring the Mountain Valley Mile
We love the idea behind this race.
The Mountain Valley Mile takes place Saturday, August 22 in downtown Waynesville and is presented by Jus’ Running. It includes races for walkers, open runners, masters athletes, and elite runners.
But what we particularly like is the distance.
A mile is long enough to challenge an experienced runner—and short enough to make running approachable for kids, families, walkers, and people who may have never thought of themselves as “runners.”
That fits closely with how we think about health at Black Bear PT.
Movement doesn’t have to be complicated.
You don’t need to run a marathon.
You don’t need to be an elite athlete.
Sometimes a meaningful goal can simply be getting strong enough, healthy enough, and confident enough to move your body for one mile.
Physical Therapy for Asheville Runners
At Black Bear Physical Therapy in Asheville, NC, we work with runners and active adults dealing with everything from acute injuries to stubborn problems that have interfered with running for months or years.
Our goal isn’t simply to tell people to stop doing the activity that hurts.
We want to figure out why you’re having difficulty, what you can continue doing safely, and what needs to change so you can get back to the activities you love.
That may include strength training, mobility work, manual therapy, dry needling, running analysis, changes in training load, or simply a better understanding of what is actually causing your symptoms.
The treatment should fit the person—not the other way around.
Come See Us Saturday
If you’re running the Mountain Valley Mile—or just coming out to watch—stop by the Black Bear Physical Therapy table and say hello.
Bring us your running questions.
Bring us the injury you’ve been ignoring.
Or just come talk running, training, health, and movement with us.
We’ll see you Saturday in downtown Waynesville.
