I try to always stay level headed when using social media.
There’s so many fitness and PT influencers that are showing wild exercises on their channels.
Most of the time the purpose is to get a reaction. They’re showing a novel exercise that many people haven’t seen and lay people may not understand.
My problem with these, is that most people don’t understand the progressions that need to happen for someone to be able to do these exercises safety.
But every once in a while, one comes along that is actually novel, and safe and useful for most people.
The closed chain hip flexor strengthening is one of them.
It’s like the nordic hamstring curl exercise, but for the hip
Here are the benefits:
Closed chain stability
Integrates the core
Allows for regression using non-closed chain leg
Puts working load at end range lengthened position
Eccentrically lengthens the rectus femoris
