We spend a lot of time improving ourselves.
Better discipline.
More motivation.
Greater patience.
More willpower.
Those are real capacities.
But before demanding another internal upgrade, inspect the environment.
Want to practice guitar?
Leave the guitar on a stand instead of inside the case.
Want to eat fruit?
Put it where you can see it.
Want children to read?
Put books where they sit.
Want patients to exercise?
Reduce the program until remembering it is almost effortless.
Want to scroll less?
Charge the phone somewhere inconvenient.
Good systems respect a basic truth:
Humans frequently follow the path requiring the least friction.
So build better paths.
