For Your Body
1. You don't have to join CrossFit or run a marathon. You can just go for a walk. Because the more you move, the longer you’ll live. For every additional hour you walk, you add 6 years of life expectancy.
2. Research shows manual therapy is more effective than medicine for neck pain. This is why we like to use an eclectic approach of massage, fascial release, joint mobs, and dry needling along with our exercises and education.
3. Peter Attia discusses why safe and consistent exercising is more important than peak performance training. Hint: it’s a risk/rewards thing.
4. If you don't like kombucha or yogurt, you could try exercise. “Altogether, the findings from the included studies suggest that exercise/PA have a beneficial impact on the gut health of older adults by improving the gut microbiome composition.”
5. EXERCISE OF THE MONTH: Positional Back Release (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)
Try one of these three positions at the end of the day to see if it eases your back pain
If it doesn’t…give us a call
For Your Mind
6. Social pain and physical pain share the same neural pathways and inflammatory responses. Build a supportive community. Try to make everyday interactions positive. Avoid toxic people.
7. So sleep is just like running the dishwasher at night? “Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that brain cell activity during sleep is responsible for propelling fluid into, through and out of the brain, cleaning it of debris.”
8. Be like a beaver and chew some wood. According to research…it’ll make you smarter.
9. News consumption increases anxiety and depression after only 14 minutes. It’s important to stay informed. But set boundaries for your mental health.
For Our Community
10. Asheville might finally be getting a Costco!
11. Bears Smokehouse BBQ is open. They stepped up during Helene and were extremely helpful for our community. It’s good to support the places the support us. Plus, they have delicious food.
12. Aaron worked out with Tedd James at X-Force. Here’s his summary. Currently they have a deal with a free trial session.
Etc.
13. Variety picks their Top 100 TV Performances of the 21st Century. Aaron would pick Bryan Cranston as Walter White as #1. Gaelyn would pick Jason Sedekus from Ted Lasso. Who would you pick?
14. This is my favorite cartoon of the month
